John "Jack" B. Nugent Jr.

John “Jack” B. Nugent Jr., 88, of Mentor, passed away August 16, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 16, 1933 in Buffalo, NY to the late John Sr. and Ruth Nugent. He moved to Cleveland, OH as a teenager and later served in the U.S. Army. After that he started his career as a lineman and electrician. Jack’s faith never wavered and he dedicated his life to his wife, children, grandchildren, and countless friends. He enjoyed family camping trips, attending county fairs, and traveling with his family. He was a council member for the Knights of Columbus, instrumental in reinvigorating the food pantry at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, a member of the Parish picnic committee, and supported many other church functions and events. He was known for his tireless energy and ambition...an “energizer bunny”. Jack could fix anything, build anything and would help anyone! His smile was contagious! Rarely could you find him without that million dollar smile. His ability to “teach” without “telling” was a gift and will always be treasured. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Patricia Nugent (nee: Sweeney); children, Mary (Joe) Shelby, Jacqueline Nugent, Therese Pece, John B. Nugent III, Christine Nugent, Joseph (Nancy) Nugent, Patrick Nugent, Kathleen Nugent, Noreen (John) Evola, Colleen Nugent, Michael (Tanya Marra) Nugent and Kevin Nugent; 22 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and an uncle and great-uncle to many. Preceding Jack in death are his sister, Mary Hems and brother, William Nugent. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2022 at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. Please meet at the church.
