Judith "Judy" A. Reider

Judith “Judy” A. Reider, age 77 of Willoughby, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Lake West Medical Center. She was born on May 24, 1944 in Ashland, Ohio. Judy was a longtime resident of northeast Ohio since 1967, mainly in Mentor but also in Concord, Chardon and most recently Willoughby. Judy spent her childhood years growing up in Ashland, as well as some time in Cleveland. She also spent many summertime family vacations going to Goulais River in Ontario, Canada enjoying swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing by the water. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother “Gramma”. After graduating from Heidelberg College, she started working as a kindergarten teacher and then became a fulltime Mom. With her genuine gift of love and compassion for others, she later became an RN graduating from Lakeland Community College, which then lead her to her real calling as a Hospice Nurse, working at Lake West Hospital on their Hospice floor, and then as an Assessment Hospice Nurse for Hospice of the Western Reserve. She volunteered as Nurse Raggedy, dressed as Raggedy Ann, visiting nursing home residents and shut-ins. She also provided support and care to many church family members. Judy also volunteered at Holden Arboretum bluebird project helping to monitor nests and successful maturing fledglings. She unselfishly loved and cherished her family as well as countless others, generously giving her time and comfort, seeming to always know just the right words to say or write. She truly had a gift with the pen. Judy will always be “our” ray of light from above as she did during her life time. Survivors include her husband of 54 years of marriage, John Reider; children, William “Todd” Reider, Jeff (Jen) Reider, Dan (Jenn) Reider, and Jenny (Tom) Maynard; grandchildren, Kyle, Nicolas, Kelsey, Grace, Andrew, Matthew, Sydnie, Nathaniel, and Grayson; siblings, Terry (Connie) Lash, Dave (Debbie) Lash, and Debbie (Dave) Teets and sister-in-law, Bonnie Lash She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jean Lash; and brother, Denny Lash. The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m., Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Hts, OH.
