Judith M. (Barnes) Rigo

Judith M. (Barnes) Rigo, age 85 of Mentor, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Vista Springs Quail Highlands, Concord, OH. She was born September 10, 1937 in Cleveland, OH. Mrs. Rigo was a devoted wife, homemaker and beloved mother to her five sons. After graduating from Willoughby Union High School in 1955, Judy worked as a secretary at the News-Herald while also writing fashion columns. A lover of literature and the pursuit of knowledge, Judy continued her education after raising her sons and received both her Bachelor of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) and Master of Arts degrees from John Carroll University. Judy enjoyed reading, knitting, golfing and boating. She and her husband Bill were active members of Mentor Harbor Yachting Club and spent their winters in Sarasota, FL as members of Stoneybrook Golf & Country Club. Judy was blessed with many close friends and found joy in their company. A devoted Catholic, Judy had a deep and abiding faith demonstrated by her charity, her service as a Eucharistic Minister and passing on of the faith to her children and PSR students. Survivors include her sons: Bill (Carolyn) Rigo Jr., Jim (Joanne) Rigo, Ted (Mary) Rigo, Andy (Colleen) Rigo and Harry (Jennifer) Rigo; 13 grandchildren: Emily, Jaclyn (Fiance: Mark Clavin), Veronica, Stephen, Joseph, Michael, David, Mary Catherine, Jack, Andrew, Will, Libby and Maddie, nephew: Rick Rigo. Preceding Judith in death are her husband of 56 years: William A. "Bill" Rigo Sr.; infant son and parents: Harry and Grace Barnes. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, February 20, 2023 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland, OH 44094. Please meet at the church. Interment will be in Willoughby Cemetery, Willoughby, OH.
