Katherine "Katie" Rose Warren

Katherine “Katie” Rose Warren, age 77, of Wickliffe, was called to Heaven on April 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, in her home, after a 40 year battle with breast cancer. Katie was born on October 11, 1945 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Harold F. and Margaret (nee: Boland) Warren. She was the oldest of six siblings who all held a special place in her heart. She graduated from Riverside High School, class of 1964. The first in her family, Katie earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Lake Erie College. Throughout Katie’s career, she worked as a purchasing agent for Bailey Controls, Cleveland Pneumatic and National Paper and Packaging. Katie was an extraordinary woman. As a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Katie was a loving caregiver who led by example. She was incredibly generous and thoughtful, always making her time and her home available to those for whom she cared. Katie was a master planner, unrelenting problem-solver, and diligent worker. Her hobbies included thrifting, genealogy, gardening, learning, and playing pinochle with her many friends at the Senior Center. Katie had an appreciation for all living things. She loved her dogs, taking walks in nature, watching and feeding the birds around her home, and admiring the beauty of God’s creation. Katie was an active member of her community, serving in various roles to fulfill her great sense of duty to help make the world a better place. Katie married the love of her life, Gerald Fischer, in 1985. Together they had many adventures including traveling the country as team semi-truck drivers, vacationing, running their business Warfish Catering, retiring to Holiday Camplands and perhaps their favorite adventure, grandparenting. Above all, Katie was “crazy” about her children and grandchildren. Making them feel important and loved was her specialty. Bragging to friends and family about their accomplishments was part of her daily routine and brought her great pride. As the matriarch of the family, she instilled perseverance, strong values, and overall goodness. Raising kind-hearted, independent and hardworking people was her life’s masterpiece. She was an unwavering motivator, defender and source of comfort that will be deeply missed. Her memory will serve as an inspiration for generations to come. Survivors include Katie’s daughters, Karen (Paul) Meznarich (nee: Hallum) and Patricia Meyers (nee: Hallum); step-son, Craig (Teresa) Fischer; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Thomas) Rode, James (Katie) Smith II, Brooke Meznarich, Daniel Meznarich, Rachel Meyers, Jackie Petkosek, Cody Fischer and Adison Fischer; great grandchildren, Aleece, Karly, Lillyan, Danni, Garrett, Neve and soon to be born, Vernon; siblings, Susan (Charles) Cope, Harold “Jimmy” Warren II, Constance Lawson, John (Joyce) Warren and Jennifer (Jeff) Walck; step-siblings, John “Jack” (Sharon) Glasgow and Jane (Gene) Glasgow and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Preceded in death by her first husband, George Hallum; second husband, Gerald Fischer and grandson, Brandon Smith. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 21, 2023 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave, Mentor, Ohio, 44060. A private family entombment will take place in Knollwood Cemetery, at a later date.
