Kevin R. Gliebe

Kevin R. Gliebe, age 33, born on January 27, 1993, continued his spiritual journey on February 8, 2026, after passing away unexpectedly. Kevin was being treated for Lyme disease (and related issues) which he valiantly fought while receiving treatment from expert healthcare providers. He was the beloved son of Deborah “Debbie” (Dumm) Gliebe and Ronald “Ron” Gliebe and is survived by them as well as his sisters, Laura C. Davidson (Michael) of Dayton, OH., and Kimberly “Kim” A. Fraser (Andrew) of Mayfield Heights, OH.; niece, Genevieve Davidson of Dayton, OH.; his aunts and uncles, Jeanne Huber (Jay), Linda McLaughlin (Frank), James Gliebe (Valerie), Timothy Dumm (Mary), Jeffrey Dumm (Susan), Jerry Dumm (Diane), and John Dumm (Gabrielle); a number of great aunts and uncles and many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Suzanne Dumm and Robert and Florence Gliebe; and his aunt and godmother, Kathleen Gliebe. Kevin was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Mentor, OH where he attended St. Mary of the Assumption School and Church and participated in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Future City Competition, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He graduated from Lake Catholic High School and later attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, and Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA where he pursued a degree in Computer Science. Kevin was employed by Rater Labs, an affiliate of Google, where he rated websites for authenticity and value. He was a whiz at building, using and modifying computers and was also very mechanically inclined, having followed in the footsteps of his grandfathers, completely rebuilding a transmission on his Kia with no formal training. Kevin was musically talented and blessed with a warm and pleasing singing voice. He enjoyed playing the drums and was proud to have been chosen to play the quints (5 drums) as part of the drumline for the Cougar marching band. He shared his musical talents with the Lake Catholic choir, with LC Singers, and by participating in various theatrical productions from grade school through high school, sharing many of these activities with a wonderful group of friends. In recent years, Kevin had been working on establishing an online bookstore called Summerland Books where he had acquired a collection of rare, unique and esoteric books with an array of topics from health to ancient wisdom, religion, philosophy and spirituality. He thoroughly enjoyed searching for and finding unique and rare titles to complement his collection and especially enjoyed trips to New York City where he could peruse the specialty bookstores and come back with wonderful “finds”. Kevin had become very health conscious, incorporating daily meditation and mindfulness as well as educating those closest to him on the benefits of these practices. Kevin will be remembered for his warm and generous spirit, great conversations, radiant smile, infectious humor, and kind heart. He was often described as intelligent, creative, caring, insightful, fun-loving, thoughtful, polite, well-spoken, and at times, complex. Kevin inspired a sense of wonder and curiosity in the world, finding joy in small moments and never losing the childlike sense of the world being much bigger than him as in watching a lightning storm over the lake and hoping to see a waterspout. His fondest memories were those spent with his friends and family, including his dear friend, Mandy, who supported him through his most difficult moments, his sisters, Laura and Kim, his cousins and close friends, as well as other valued friends and family. He was sensitive to the needs and difficulties of others and had developed compassion for homeless individuals expressing concern for them, especially during the cold winter. To honor Kevin, the family will receive friends and family to celebrate his life with a memorial service from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060 (www.brunners.com). A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060, followed by a brunch at St. Bede’s Hall.
