Leonard "Lenny" Steven Vaccaro Sr.

Leonard “Lenny” Steven Vaccaro Sr., 95, of Concord Twp., passed away August 29, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 15, 1930, in Cleveland, OH., to the late Antonino and Margharita (nee: Diana) Vaccaro. He enjoyed going to school, and always walked to them, Charles Dickens Elementary, Alexander Hamilton Junior High and John Adams High School, where he graduated from in June 1949. With the support of his loving wife, Christine, he entered the evening division of John Carroll University in September 1956 and received Bachelor of Social Science degree in June 1961. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in October of 1952, attended Officer Candidacy School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in October in 1953. Leonard served in Korea and completed his active-duty tour in June 1955 as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked as a programmer and systems analyst for several companies and retired from the Lubrizol Corporation in 1996. He had a strong passion for working with wood, building houses and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed playing golf and was a forever fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Browns. He loved his late animal companions, handsome George and sweetie pie Dotty. Leonard is survived by his wife of 71 years, Christine Marie Vaccaro (nee: Passalacqua); three sons, Leonard S. (Mary Jo) Vaccaro Jr., Anthony S. Vaccaro and Christopher P. (Ellen) Vaccaro; grandchildren, Joseph L. (Ashleigh) Vaccaro, Steven P. Vaccaro, Christi (Andrew) Harman, Ginni Marie Vaccaro and Samantha (Timothy) Brunkala; great grandchildren, Oliver and Julia Harman and Vada Christine Vaccaro; sisters, Angela Silvestro and Josephine (Robert) Schroeder and his many nieces, nephews and many cousins in New Orleans, Canada, Sicily and Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marietta (Joseph) Musso and Frances (Charles) DiSalvo and his brother-in-law, Albert Silvestro He loved and cherished all his family, his country and his Sicilian heritage. Family and friends will be received 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., Ohio 44060. A funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday., September 4, 2025, at the church.
