Linda Jo Bond

Born July 20, 1942, Linda Jo Bond transitioned from this life on February 16, 2017, at Emerson Hospital, Concord, MA. So it goes. Linda was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, the daughter of Jack and Elsie Daley. She reported that she was named by the attending physician, Dr. Peas, since her father was out playing golf. In high school, she was involved in theater, often playing the mother – a role she continued to play for many throughout her life. Linda attended both Hiram College and Kent State University, eventually earning a degree in English from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. She later taught English in the Paducah (KY) Public Schools. She also worked for the American Red Cross Blood Services. In later years she helped various ways in her husband’s ministry. Linda loved life. She loved Kurt Vonnegut, Broadway musicals, and Bill Murray movies. She loved people. She loved to laugh. She enjoyed her numerous friendships, especially those with the young people she came to know through her daughter. She will be missed by friends stretching from Kentucky through Ohio and Michigan into Massachusetts. Linda had zero tolerance for pretense. Most, she loved her family: daughter Beth Sherman Cail, son-in-law Rip Cail, and granddaughters Emelia and Julia Cail. In her last years, she rejoiced in living closer to her beloved family. In her closing hours, when Beth noted she could not think of anything to say other than she loved her mother, Linda responded “It’s ok. We don’t need to say anything else.” Nothing in life mattered more to her than the love of family. Linda is also survived by one sister, Ruth Daley, of New Philadelphia, OH, and her former husband and still friend, Steven Bond of Mentor, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemarie Daley. In her granddaughter’s baby book, when asked about regrets, Linda penned “It took me so long to grow up. I’m still not there. Otherwise, I don’t regret a thing. I learned from my many mistakes.” May all those who will miss her learn from her zest for life.
