Margaret M. (O'Brien) Hufgard

Margaret M. (O’Brien) Hufgard, age 88, of Mentor, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Symphony of Mentor. She was born January 1, 1934 in Cleveland, OH. She resided in Mentor and was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church for more than 62 years. Mrs. Hufgard was a proud Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Homemaker. Her positive, supportive influence on the countless lives she touched, including her nieces, nephews, friends, and nurses, will be remembered always. Margaret enjoyed puzzles, reading, gardening and watching the birds outside her window. Some of her most treasured time was spent with her children and grandchildren watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. As a New Year’s Day baby, she was always the first call after midnight and reminded us of the hope the New Year would bring. Survivors include her children: Emil W. (Kimberly) Hufgard, Colette (Steve) Coe, William (Denise) Hufgard, Robert (Dawn) Hufgard and Mark (Nicole) Hufgard; grandchildren: Katelynn (Brandon) Roberto, Douglas (Kristen) Coe, Torrey Wigfield, Will Hufgard, Christian Hufgard, Dylan Hufgard, Delaney (Bret) Teachout, Ryleigh Hufgard and Kilian Hufgard; sisters in law: Diana (Steve) Zyzanski, Marge Lanese and Eileen O’Brien; brothers in law: Don Hufgard and Fred (Gail) Hufgard. Preceding Margaret in death are her husband of 52 years: Emil L. Hufgard; grandbabies: James, Cynthia and Jacob Coe; parents: William J. and Sarah O’Brien; siblings: Agnes Mullin, Kathleen Mullowney, Joan Millett, Coletta Riley, William, James and Edward O’Brien and sisters in law: Marge Hufgard, Phyllis Hufgard and Peggy Caton. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave. Mentor, OH. The funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp., OH.
