Marilyn Anne Furlan

Marilyn Anne Furlan, age 78, passed away on June 13th, 2026. Mare, as she was known to her family and friends, was a retired French teacher at Eastlake North High School. Her passion for the French language, literature, and culture was passed on to three decades of her students through her instruction in the classroom and her enthusiasm on annual student travels to Quebec or Paris. Her humor, wit, jokes, and creativity made her THE favorite to her beloved nieces, nephews, stepdaughters and of course, her dear friends. Mare was born to Robert and LaVerne (Garlock) Furlan on May 4, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Jack Foley. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jackie LaPera, (Dominic), Virginia Senor Hill (Dee), brother, Robert Furlan, and nieces, Joyce and Beth LaPera. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy (Jeff) Cerra, Kyle Senor Ocasio, Lisa (Al) Storey, and nephews, Anthony (Tracy) LaPera, Brian (Sue) Senor, Brett (Sarah Kim) Senor, and Eric (Emily) Senor. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Jill (Bob) Waterman, Terri (Mike) Trubiano, Mary Beth Bayda, and Kim Foley. Lastly, she is survived by her dear, lifelong friends, especially her “brothers”, Joel Downey and Bob Kler. She filled her days with gardening and baking for the people around her and was an integral part of her family. After the death of her sisters, she assumed the role of the family matriarch and stepped up to love and care for her many nieces and nephews and continued this into their progeny. Not only was she a wonderful neighbor to those in her Noble Beach neighborhood, she was also their devoted friend. Those who knew Mare will remember her edgy humor, her bargain-shopping expertise, her superb cooking and baking, and the simple ways she made ordinary moments feel special. Please join us for a celebration of Marilyn’s life on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at the Henn Mansion, 23131 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, OH (located in the Kenneth Sims Park) from 4-8pm (memorial service from 4-5pm).
