Marjorie L. Kollister

Marjorie L. Kollister, 91, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Altercare of Mentor with family at her side. Born February 27, 1931 in Athens, Ohio, Marge was a longtime Lake County resident living in Mentor for 40 years before moving to Painesville Township. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Kollister assisted her husband with his home building business. Her ability to create house plans and keep books was invaluable. They built many homes all over Lake County as well as in Pinellas County, Florida where the Kollisters spent their winters for 35 years. Margie was an avid and accomplished bridge player, playing several times a week in various clubs and venues in Lake County. Additionally, she played duplicate bridge competitively throughout the country. She cherished every moment spent with her family. Playing games and watching sports with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren gave her tremendous pleasure. She was an active member of Mentor United Methodist Church for 63 years. Marjorie is survived by her children, Bruce (Kathy) Kollister of Butler, PA and Ken (Karla Johnson) Kollister of Sugar Land, TX; grandchildren Cory (Jennifer), Clint, and Brian (Maria) Kollister, and Stephanie (Wes) Walker; great grandchildren Triston, Ashlyn, Caden, Kamryn, Bristol, Brooks, Briar, and Kyler Kollister. In addition to her parents, Willis and Clara Johnson, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Kollister, who she married on June 25, 1949, and who passed away on January 4, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her son, James “Jay” Kollister. The family will receive friends from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service to honor Marjorie’s life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2022 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
