Patricia Lou (Bell) Becker

Patricia Lou (Bell) Becker, 72, of Painesville Township, passedaway March 11, 2007 with her loving children at her side. Pat was born June 29, 1934, in Millersburg to the late Howard Dumont and Violet Mae (Boyes) Bell, Patricia had been a longtime resident of Concord Township before moving to Painesville Township several years ago. Mrs. Becker was a homemaker for the most part, but did hold various positions, including overseeing the volunteers at the Lake County Food Bank, where she started as a volunteer herself. Many Melridge School students may also remember her as their lunchroom lady. “You must eat your vegetables!” She had been a member of the faculty wives organization for the Painesville Township Schools, the Concord Garden Club, Browns Boosters, PTA, and supported many animal rescue organizations. She was an avid supporter of her children’s interests, spending every summer driving to golf tournaments all over the state of Ohio with her three children. She was a lifetime member of the Moms Taxi Union. She had been know by many names by many people; Mommie Dearest, Mama Becker, Grandma, Duper, Mom and Patricia. Patricia was a fine loving person. Pat loved to read, spent time with her friends and family, and cook. She especially enjoyed a clear, star-filled sky in the evening. She was a wonderful baker and baked a mean rhubarb pie. That, along with her unique wit, humor and many other fine qualities will be truly missed. Pat is survived by her sons, Paul (Maryann) of South Euclid, and Roger of Columbus; daughters, Deborah (Ernie Anderson) Shook of Painesville, and Laura (Daniel) Heckler of Columbus; sisters, Eudora Avey, Lydia Huffman, Roberta Jarvis, and Janet Fost of Orrville; brother, Jim of California; grandchildren, Zachary Shook, Jessica and Nicholas Heckler, Luke Becker; great-grandson, Skyler Sorgen; numerous nieces and nephews; her faithful dog Rosey, and a circle of friends who were near and dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dean; daughter, Fay Ann; sister, Violet Marie; and brother, Howard Bell Jr. In keeping with Patricia’s wishes there will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
