Patricia J. Lardin

Patricia J. Lardin, age 95 of Mentor on the Lake, passed away, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Heather Hill Care Communities in Chardon, OH. She was born July 8, 1927 in Cleveland. Patricia was a faithful member of Euclid Lutheran Church during her younger years, raising her children in the church, teaching bible school and serving on the women's guild. She then took her grandchildren to church there as well for many years. Later in life, she joined Advent Lutheran Church and attended Saturday evening services. After Patricia's children graduated from Euclid High School, she started her second career. She was hired by Dr. Volk & Dr. Plotkin, both Ophthalmologists, to help run their office. She went to many medical training classes and seminars to learn as much as she could about this field. She loved her job and was very proud of her accomplishments while working there. She retired after 14 years when her husband Jack retired from his career at the Plain Dealer. After Patricia's retirement, she rediscovered her love of swimming and began swimming several times each week. Most recently she swam at Mentor Heisley Racquet and Fitness Club and then at UH Fitness Center in Mentor. She always dreamed of swimming the English Channel. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was active in local garden clubs. She loved her family and lovingly hosted holiday dinners at her home. She was a wonderful cook and made the most amazing meals... and Long Island Iced Tea. And if you knew Pat, you knew she loved her Chinese food. As Pat moved into her later years, she loved being referenced as Patty Perfect, coined by one of her doctors for reaching her age with very minimal health issues, an impressive feat, considering she had many as a younger woman. Survivors include her son: James N. Lardin Sr.; son in law: Dennis Swift; grandchildren: James N. Lardin Jr., Karee (Scott) Broome and Amy (Bob) Matthews; great-grandchildren: Charles “Charlie” and Daniel “Danny” Broome, Robert “Bobby”, Kathryn “Katie”, Margaret “Maggie” and George “Georgie” Matthews. Preceding Patricia in death are her husband: Jack N. Lardin; daughter: Lynne P. Swift, parents: Henry and Mable Constable and brothers: George and Doug Constable. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:30 am Monday, May 1, 2023 at Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Rd., Mentor, OH 44060. A memorial service will be at 11:30 am Monday, May 1, 2023 at the church. Inurnment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, OH.
