Philip H. Dickinson

Phil lived by the saying, “Celebrate Good Times! YAHOO!” From the day he was born, December 14, 1949, he lived life to the fullest. Celebrating moments with his family and friends was his biggest priority. He always enjoyed being on the water, whether it was boating on Lake Erie or swimming in Lake Fizzle. Philip met the love of his life at age 16 and from that day on, Nancy & Phil were inseparable. They celebrated the sacrament of marriage on August 8, 1970. Philip received his Bachelor’s degree from Capital University and earned multiple certifications within his field. He served as the Director of Operations for The Cleveland Museum of Art and continued his career at Orange City Schools until he retired in 2015. During his time at Orange Schools, he was named the Outstanding Business Operations Manager of the Year for the State of Ohio. Philip & Nancy celebrated the births of their three children: Bryan Dickinson, Katy (Gary) Moran and Kevin (Lauren) Dickinson. As a father, he instilled the love of family traditions and great vacations, especially trips to Siesta Key! Philip & Nancy welcomed & celebrated the births of their seven grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Dickinson, Bridget, Bryan and Brody Moran, & Gavin and Griffin Dickinson. Phil earned the name BEST Papa Ever & loved every minute of that role! Philip Harding Dickinson, age 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday night, May 4, 2024, with Nancy, his wife of over 53 years, and his best friend, Kevin Patton, by his side. He is survived by his siblings, Penny (Jim) Koke, Jane (Jerry) Jarboe, Phyllis (Bart) Meyer, Chris and Nat Dickinson, his dear Aunt Jeanne Chorman and so many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Nathaniel and Leona Dickinson and his sisters-in-law, Donna Patton & Cathy Dickinson. He will be greatly missed but his legacy of celebrations will live on through his family and all who knew and loved him. Phil’s family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A Celebration of Life Mass to honor Philip will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Twp., OH 44060 (Please meet at the Church).
