Ruth Chase

Ruth Chase, 85, of Mentor, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Ohman Family Living at Holly Hill, Newbury. She was born December 3, 1935 in Wooster to the late Howard and Ruth Sigler. Ruth was a stay-at-home mom which allowed her to dedicate time to her children and grandchildren. She loved to go camping and fishing and spent countless hours in the boat catching fish with her husband, Cliffie. The two were inseparable once her husband retired and would be found almost every weekend camping in their Winnebago. The campgrounds would be filled with laughter as they enjoyed the company of their friends and family. Ruth had many talents which included crocheting, sewing, quilting, and plastic canvas. She owned a ceramic kiln and made priceless gifts that her loved ones will cherish forever. She was an avid bowler and was on a weekly women’s bowling league for most of her adult life. Her grandchildren often mistaken bowling as her career. Her hobbies included reading many books and playing video games on her Nintendos. Some of her favorite games were Dr. Mario, Tetris, BurgerTime, bowling on the Wii and many of the Mario series. She absolutely loved the time she spent with her family especially vacations at Crow Lake, which has become a tradition for many generations. Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren held a special place in her heart and will always remember her as Grandma Lou. Ruth was a very loving Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma and we will miss her so much. Survivors include her children, Clifford (Heidi) Chase Jr. and Cindy (Jim) Adie; grandchildren, Clifford D. (Shannon) Chase III, Zackary (Kristin) Chase, Shannan (Jason) Szekely, Ashley (Harry Martin) Chase and Brittany (Eric Arko) Chase; great-grandchildren, Halle, Owen, Lila, Luke, Harper, Madelynn and Carter and brother, Howard (Debbie) Sigler. Preceding Ruth in death are her husband, Clifford Chase Sr.; son, Daniel Chase and siblings, Jeanette, Betty, Jack, Dean and Bill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A memorial service to conclude the visitation will begin at 8:00 p.m. Burial to take place, 10:00 a.m., Monday, October, 25, 2021 at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026. Please meet at the gravesite for the burial of both Ruth and Cliff. Back together again. The family respectfully asks that masks be worn during all public events.
