Suzanne Karlovec

Suzanne Karlovec, 78, of Mentor, was reunited with her husband on June 13, 2025. She was born April 22, 1947 in Cleveland to the late Vernon and Marion Ramkey. Sue was a 1965 graduate of Kirtland High School, and married her soulmate on November 6, 1965. Affectionately known to many as Mrs. Karlovec, she dedicated over 30 years of her life to Mentor Public Schools, where she served in numerous roles that touched the lives of many staff and students. Outside of her professional life, she found great joy cruising in her beloved 1950 Ford Custom (FatCop) alongside her late husband, Scott. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren—whether it was line dancing, swimming in the backyard pool, bowling on the Saturday night league at Scores, or sitting outside watching the birds at her bird feeder. She enjoyed serving on the Kirtland Reunion Committee and the get-togethers with the Hopkins Elementary Retiree Club, The Beehive. A talented crafter, she loved scrapbooking and embroidering one-of-a-kind gifts that brought smiles to those she loved. Sue was nurturing, generous, and full of unconditional love. Her deep faith in God guided her life, and her selflessness left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Renae (Jim) Chesnic, Marlene (Dan) Finkenthal, Janna Karlovec and Scott (Miriam) Karlovec; grandchildren, Jeremy Karlovec, Morgan Karlovec, Tyler (Corbin) Finkenthal, Amanda (Eric) O’Connor, Samantha Finkenthal, Ryan Karlovec, Josephine Karlovec, Tabitha Zema, Noah Strunk, Christopher Chesnic and Michael Chesnic; great grandchildren, Jayce, Kali, Apollo and Ethan; siblings, Lorraine (Tim) O’Brien and Vernon Ramkey; many nieces and nephews, dear family friend, Kelly (Tseng) Brown and dog, Frankie. Preceding Suzanne in death are her husband, Scott and dogs, Toby, Jak, & Max. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Freedom Assembly of God, 5420 W. Heisley Rd., Mentor, Ohio 44060.
