Vaso "Koz" Kozlovich Jr.

Vaso “Koz” Kozlovich Jr., age 85, of Mentor for the past 60 years, passed away Thursday September 11, 2014 at his home in Mentor surrounded by his loving family. Koz was born January 18, 1929 in Thompson 1, PA. He was a member of the U.S. Army during WWII, a volunteer firefighter with the City of Mentor at Station 2 in the Mentor Headlands for 17 years and also coached baseball while his boys were growing up. He retired from Euclid Inc. after 32 years of service and was a member of Local Union 426 where he was the president for 12 years. Koz loved to deer hunt, being in the outdoors and was always a teacher of nature. The family would like to thank Koz’s Hospice Team from the Mentor Hospice of the Western Reserve. They all took such loving care with him, and the family truly appreciates it. The entire Hospice Team has become part of the Kozlovich family. Survivors are his wife of 30 years Frances (Chadwell) (Morenz); children Janet (Jack) Bixby, Michael “Mickey” (Tia) Kozlovich, Edward (Susan) Kozlovich, Ron (Shari) Morenz, Laura (Dan) Sweeney, Maureen (Bob) Snyder, Robin Morenz and Diane McRoberts. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mary Anne (fiancé Bob Landis) Bixby, Cody and Tommy Kozlovich, Amber, Amanda and Cory Kozlovich, Mark and Noelle Yeckley, Caitlyn Sweeney, Craig, Kevin and Becca Snyder, Nick (Chelsia) Panzarella Jr., Morgan (Perry) Harrison, Christina and Ashley Poindexter, Kansas (Fred) LaBarge, and Ashley McRoberts; great grandchildren Breeana Kinnaird, Nick Panzarella III, Hunter Harrison, baby Harrison and Lexi Lebarge and his brother Richard (Diane) Kozlovich. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary Lou (Teringo) Kozlovich; parents Vaso Kozlovich, Sr. and Dorothy Kozlovich; brothers Dave, George and Eli and his sister Eva. Memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Sunday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Private family inurnment will be held at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland at a later date.
