Constance M. "Connie" Platz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Constance M. “Connie” Platz, 90, of Concord Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 22, 2022. She was born June 20, 1932 in Cleveland. Connie was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She lived in Cleveland before moving to Wickliffe, then Mentor, and was a longtime Lake County resident. Connie selflessly placed her family’s needs above her own. She poured her heart and soul into raising her family. She instilled in her children & grandchildren a lifelong commitment to helping others through her volunteer work with numerous charitable organizations including: The American Heart Association, Christ Child Society, and the Wickliffe Victorian Tea. She enjoyed modeling, ballet and was an avid reader. Connie attended Villa Angela Academy and Fenn College. Her greatest role was wife and mother. Together with Jack, one of their goals was to provide the best education possible for their children. Connie sometimes worked outside the home. Her work experience included TRWs Metallurgic Lab, Bailey Meter, and Willoughby Eastlake Career Education Center. Connie was a strong loving partner with her husband in his political career for almost 30 years and was affectionately called the “First Lady of Lake County”. She was honored by the Lake County Democratic Party for her outstanding contributions and years of service. No words can express how deeply Connie will be missed by those who knew and loved her. There will forever be a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled, and we will always carry her memory in our hearts. Survivors include her husband, John Platz; children, Karen (Bob) Shelby, Liz (Peter) Poulin, Linda Collister, and Eric (Michelle) Platz; grandchildren, Jacqui (Mark) Woodford, Jeff Shelby, Paige (Max) Medert, Meaghan (Matthew) Klitch, Kara (Jordan) Hatfield, Aiden, Emmi, Max, Milo Platz; Bradley (Claire) Snyder, and Lauren Snyder; great grandchildren, Quinn, Gavin, and Grant; sisters, Ethel Payerchin, and Diane Quinn; brothers, Kenneth (Loretta) Quinn, and Howard Quinn; and her son in law, Jon Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ethel Quinn; daughter, Connie Snyder; grandson, Scott Collister; and her siblings, Rita Talty, and Tom and Dick Quinn. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass in honor of Connie’s life will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.)
