Darlene M. Sargent

Darlene M. Sargent, 69, of Mentor, died December 21, 2021, with her loved ones beside her at home. She was born May 22, 1952, in Cleveland. Darlene enjoyed traveling, swimming and the holidays. But, more than anything, she was devout in her passion for her loved ones, her church community and for Christ – her everlasting North Star. She was equally as passionate in her service to and compassion for all others. Whether it be a big gesture or a simple card, caring for others was always her true heartbeat and an undeniably unforgettable quality. We are all lives that were changed by the little things, big things, thoughts, and sacrifices of Darlene. Survivors include her husband, Peter M. Sargent; children, Peter J. (Kari) Sargent, Kelly Keim and Douglas Sargent; grandchildren, Liam Keim and Sloan Brown; siblings, Kathy (William) Goodwin and Richard Powell; sister-in-law, Carolyn Powell. She is now rejoicing in heaven with her parents, Albert and Irene (Orth) Powell, as well as her brother, Thomas Powell. A funeral service in celebration of Darlene will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. ET at Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, 7271 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. Masks are required at the church. Procession will lead to Mentor Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, Darlene would wish that you “pay it forward” whenever possible, spread kindness and send a thoughtful card to someone you love.
