Edith I. Chetnik

Edith I. Chetnik, 100, of Mentor, died March 10, 2022 at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born May 1, 1921 in Franklin, Tennessee. Edith was a homemaker. Her hobbies were gardening and bowling until she got older. She stopped bowling when she was in her early 90’s from what her family understands. Edith also loved to play cards with her friends and she loved watching her Cleveland Indians baseball games. She had been a fan of the franchise since she moved to the Cleveland area in the early 1940’s when she met her future husband, Chester. Edith also loved her puzzles, going to church and watching Westerns on TV. Survivors include her daughter, Yolanda Chetnik; grandchildren, Debra Ann Bove, Kevin Stephens, and Malinda (David) Johnson; great grandchildren, Aleasha, Michael, and Matthew Stephens; and her great great grandchildren, Bella, Connor, and Athena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester S. Chetnik; parents, Oscar and SueNell Green; daughter, Debra Ann; sisters, Edna and Euna; and her brothers, Elmer and Ewin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass in memory of Edith will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.)
