Edward O. Wood III

Edward O. Wood III, 91 of New Port Richey FL, passed away on May 9, 2020, with his family by his side. He was born July 26, 1928, in Chicago, IL the son of Edward O. Wood JR. and Ida Woodley. Edward grew up in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, attended St. Ignatius High School, and went to college at the University of Detroit where he played football. After finishing college, he served in the Marines. Edward then pursued a career in Business and became an Executive with General Motors. He was an active volunteer throughout his life coaching sports, participating in organizations within his local parishes, helping to lead Pre-Cana Weekends and sponsoring candidates entering the Catholic Church. In retirement he was an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Board Member for the Wyndtree Community Association. He and his wife Mary Anne of 68 years were active members of Marriage Encounter and enjoyed years of traveling both nationally and internationally. Edward is survived by his wife Mary Anne Wood, 3 daughters Mary Jane Kemeny-Peronto and her husband Claude of CO, Margaret Wood of OH, Anne Marie Frey and her husband David of OH, 5 sons Edward O. Wood IV and his wife Marlene of MI, Leo Wood and his wife Antoinette of OH, John Wood and his wife Janice of IL, Michael Wood and his wife Michelle Barry of MI, Martin Wood and his wife Dana of IL, 16 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren The family is only receiving extended family members from the Heuser, Warner, and Wood families for the Visitation and Funeral. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service in memory of Edward will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the funeral home with social distancing being encouraged at both public events. Furthermore, the Wood Family is requiring facemasks be worn during all publicly attended events that are being held in honor of Edward. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
