Frances M. (Marchio) Hansen, age 102, formerly of Concord Twp., passed away April 29, 2021, in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She was born October 31, 1918, in Martins Ferry, OH. Mrs. Hansen was a woman who put her heart into serving her community. An active participant in over 15 organizations, she was best known as a board member and longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society (ACS) where she served as an instructor with the Breast Cancer Reach to Recovery program, and as program coordinator from 1984-1998. A five-time cancer survivor, Mrs. Hansen counseled hundreds of breast cancer patients and their families for over 47 years. Her impact on their lives was significant, offering hope and comfort in a time of need. She was also active at the Lake Hospital System where she had served in various capacities for 40 years, including as Past-President of the Lake Hospital Auxiliary Board and the Senior Advisory Board. Mrs. Hansen was a parishioner at St. Gabriel Church in Concord Twp. where she had been an active member of the 50+ Club, Mission Circle and Bereavement Committee. Other organizations touched by her compassion and generosity are the Mentor Women’s Service Club, Willoughby Fine Arts Association, Case Western Reserve University Adult Education, North Coast Volunteer Leadership Association and SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives). Mrs. Hansen received many awards and recognitions for her past accomplishments. Among them are the ACS Quality of Life and Dedicated Service Award for 30 years of service (1986), Outstanding Performance Award from the Women’s Planning Group of Lakeland Community College (1998) and Lake Hospital 40-year Volunteer (2003). In 2003, Mrs. Hansen was inducted into the Lake County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Pre-deceased by husbands Harris and Walter Hansen, brother Guido Joseph Marchio, daughter Bonita Webb, son Frank N. Carolei, stepson George Hansen, and stepdaughter Karen Hansen, she is survived by daughter Laura Dinsmore (David Frances) and son-in-law Ronald Webb. Also left behind are 10 grandchildren: Holly Dinsmore (Christopher Custer), Joshua Frances (Rebecca), Victoria Frances (Debbie), James Webb (Christine), Nancy Webb Kochevar (Christopher), Susan Webb Miller (George), Frank J. Carolei, Scott Gregory (Amy Slupe), Staci Dreger (David), and Brent Lytton. Her death is also mourned by 16 great-grandchildren: Jack and Nicholas Custer (Dinsmore); Samuel and Avi Frances; Mitchell and Matthew Webb; Timothy, Andrew and Gabriella Kochevar; Cassandra Orosz Few (Logan); Alex Orosz; Isabella Miller; Crosby Slupe (Rachel); Ella Slupe; Lylah Mitchell (Pierce) and Katy Dreger; and one great-great grandchild: Theodore Mitchell. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, July 24, 2021, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., OH 44060. Please meet at the church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
