Robert J. Acquaviva

Robert J. Acquaviva of Mentor, OH, age 74, fell asleep in death on December 21, 2022, after a brief illness. “Bob” was so happy to be at home in the loving care of his family. He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him, especially for his sense of humor and generosity. He was a faithful and respected elder in the Chillicothe-Mentor Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he attended for over 51 years. Fifty-six years ago, on November 26, 1966, he married his childhood sweetheart, Gayle, and together they raised three beautiful children. After being employed at Fisher Body of General Motors and Euclid Inc., he chose to be self-employed where he enjoyed being a General Contractor in the construction field. He also exercised those talents in the construction and remodeling of several Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He volunteered his time teaching the Bible and comforting many people. He also loved to take his daughter, Kim, fishing with his brother, Rick and he always looked forward to “Daddy Days” with his girls, Kim, Tina, Alyssa and great-grandson Ollie. He enjoyed jamming on the drums with his son, Bob Jr., riding their motorcycles and working on household projects together. He looked forward to his daily walks with his “darling” doxie, Lily. Some of his favorite hobbies also included baking bread, making the best homemade pizzas and ice cream, as well as collecting a variety of hats. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gayle, their children, Kim (Michael) Tuskes, Bob (Bonnie) Acquaviva Jr., and Tina (Eric) Hanson, granddaughter Alyssa (Alex) Leuenberger, great-grandson, Oliver, and brother, Rick (Lora) Acquaviva, all of whom will dearly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore Acquaviva and Joan (Rich) Acquaviva. Bob found comfort in Jesus' promise in the Bible at John 5:28,29 where he said, “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” He also found comfort in the scriptures found at Ps 37:11, 29 which says, “The meek will possess the earth and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace…And they will live forever on it.” We look forward to welcoming him back in the very near future and once again being a happy reunited family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7642 Chillicothe Road, Mentor, OH 44060.
