January 22, 1958 - November 9, 2021
Robin D. Klawon passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her parents, Robert Klawon and Edith Frederking, on November 9, 2021 at University Hospital TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp. She was born January 22, 1958 in Painesville. The fourth child of a musical family, Robin learned keyboards and joined Cleveland’s choir, the “Singing Angels.” On summer cross-country drives, she and her sister sang tirelessly, to their father’s chagrin—but Robin, the namesake of his business “Robin Electric,” remained the apple of his eye. Robin excelled at Willoughby South High School, for which she was a track statistician, a representative on television’s “Academic Challenge,” recipient of the Citizenship Award, and Co-Valedictorian. A skilled mathematician, she attended Miami, Arizona State, and Ohio State Universities, graduating with top honors and self-designing a Philosophy/Linguistics graduate program. Her scholastic pursuits were interrupted by the onset of a challenging psychiatric condition with which she battled the rest of her life. Nonetheless, she remained a gifted poet who demonstrated mastery of literature, philosophy and mythology. Robin was brilliant, fun, loving, witty, and one of the most generous people you’d ever meet. She was dedicated to family, fiercely protecting her little brother and sister, sacrificing heroically to help raise her big sister’s kids, forever idolizing her rock-n-roll brothers, and striving, until the end, to keep her scattered loved ones connected. Survivors include her siblings, Dan (Melissa) Klawon, Cynthia Lea Klawon, Randy (Debbie) Klawon, Lynette (Todd) Sosna, David (Indi) Frederking, Ginnie Karkenny, Marty Frederking, and Bob (Colleen) Frederking; her maternal aunt, Dorothy “Dee Dee” (Joe) Meredith, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A public graveside service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Mentor Cemetery, the final resting place of many Klawons, including her beloved father. A private reception will follow. Arrangements entrusted to the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
