Anna R. (Vickers) Samples

Mrs. Anna Rose (Vickers) Samples, 91, of Painesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 9, 1934, in Gilboa, West Virginia. Anna grew up in Widen, WV, the daughter of Orval and Beatrice Vickers. She was the eldest of nine children. She would later move to Charleston, WV, where she would reconnect and fall in love with Russell ‘Gene’ Samples. They moved to Northeast Ohio and had three children, Russell ‘Russ’, Michael ‘Mike’, and Kim ‘Kimmie’ Samples. Their family blossomed, and they were blessed with six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Anna enjoyed bird-watching, traveling, picnics, and cooking. She always had a heart for others and devoted herself to caring for those around her. Anna and Gene spent much of their time in the garden, camping, traveling to bluegrass festivals, driving through the hills of West Virginia, and watching their grandchildren run through the yard catching fireflies. Family was everything to them. Gene passed away after forty-five loving years of marriage. Anna never remarried, and was often quoted smiling when seeing cardinals, “Red birds," she would say, "they mate for life.” Anna enjoyed a fulfilling and long-standing career of forty-four years with Mary Kay, attending many seminars and ceremonies. She took great joy in helping others feel their very best. She embodied the quote, “All you send into the lives of others comes back into your own”. She will be deeply missed by all who had the joy and privilege of knowing and loving her. Survivors include her children: Russell Samples, Mike (Lyn) Samples, and Kim (John) Samples-Fullmer; grandchildren: Cory (David) Brown, Caleb (Kimberly) Gobble, Amanda Burnheimer, Beth (Chad) Carmona, and Ashley Steele, Caylee (Alex) Archer; 15 great-grandchildren; A mother and grandmother to many. Siblings: Shirley (David) Meadows, Barbara (Dwain) Boyce, and Delbert (Peggy) Vickers; sisters-in-law: Frances Ontko, Loretta Samples, Carolyn Schaffer, Nancy Vickers, and Waltraud Vickers. Preceding Anna in death are her husband, Russell Eugene ‘Gene’ Samples; grandson: James Russell Gobble; parents: Orval and Beatrice Vickers; siblings: Ruth Pomrey, Franklin, John, Orval, and Paul Vickers. Family and friends will be received for calling hours at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 12 p.m. at Painesville Assembly of God, 10949 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Painesville, OH 44077.
