Anthony C. "Tony" Cicirello

Anthony C. “Tony” Cicirello, age 81 of Mentor, passed away Monday November 15, 2021, at home with his family by his side. He was born September 10, 1940, in Cleveland, OH. Tony grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. Growing up he was a paperboy and played baseball (Ray Chapman’s). He told us in those days the kids organized the teams and played in the local park. Through junior high and high school, he was on the baseball team and wrestling team, where he lettered in both. He tried out for the football team, but the coach said he was not big enough. Our dad did not reach his full size until after he graduated from high school. After he graduated high school, he went into the trucking business and became a salesman. Tony won many awards. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Browns and Cavaliers. He loved watching Ohio State and talking to his brother, Sal and son Tony during the games. Tony enjoyed going to Vegas with friends. He loved music with Elvis and Frank Sinatra being his favorites. We would wake up on Saturday mornings to him playing Motown. He loved going to Thistledown and taking Ann on occasion. Tony was a great storyteller, and he could captivate us with his tales. Tony was a salesman for several trucking companies. After retirement he became a consultant for an engineering company. Retiring in 2007 from the GDC Group. Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Bonna Cicirello; children: Ann (Barry) Cicirello-Klasson and Charles A. “Tony” (Stephanie Schmauder) Cicirello; grandchildren: Dustin M. (Amanda) Bush, Brandon K. (Megan) Bush and Matthew “Matty” Schmauder; great-grandchildren: Millie Jo, Grayson, and Levi Bush; cat: “Kitty”; brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Preceding Tony in death are his parents: Charles and Grace Cicirello; brother: Salvatore “Sal” Cicirello, and furry friends: Tara, Bela, Bailey, and Blackie. When his mother Grace could not live alone any longer, he brought her home and took care of her. A private family funeral will be held at St. John Vianney Church, Mentor, OH.
