Cheryl Lynn (Steingart) Ward

Cheryl Lynn (Steingart) Ward, age 68, of Mentor and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at her home in Mentor. She was born on January 28, 1954 in Euclid. Dr. Ward was a lifelong student and educator. She began her career as a Speech and Language Pathologist at Perry Local Schools. Through love of computers and learning, she became the Technology Integrator and finally a School Administrator. After serving Perry Schools for 30 years she went on to receive her Doctorate in Educational Technology and played a key role in the development of Akron University’s Educational Technology program. She has touched the lives of so many students of all ages throughout her career. Dr. Ward retired in 2014 with her husband to their second home in The Villages. Cheryl was a smart and straightforward person with a kind heart. Cheryl’s favorite hobbies were relaxing at her home in Florida, reading, playing cards with friends and golfing with her “golf girls” and husband, Bill. She enjoyed most the love and company of her whole family, especially her 6 grandchildren and numerous grand-nephews and nieces. Cheryl was content to spend each day nurturing her grandchildren, reading to them, watching them at all of their sporting activities and being their biggest supporter and cheerleader. She was an empathetic soul who wanted to take care of everyone in the family. Cheryl was treasured by all members of her family but especially the love of her life, her husband Bill who she met when they were both 16 years old. Their love and devotion to each other, their children and family remain an inspiration of the true love that exists in this world. Survivors include her husband of 46 years: William C. Ward Jr.; daughters: Alissa (Mark) Miller and Erin (John) Siegel; grandchildren: Maya, Claire and Amelia Helwig and William, Katherine and Colton Siegel: mother: Velma Steingart; sisters: Brenda (Mike) Dey, Barbara (Kevin) Deighan, Susan (Steven) Bissonnette and Joanne (Derek) LaDuke; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and mother in law: Jean Ward. Preceding Cheryl in death are her father: Frank Steingart Jr. and father-in-law: William C.
