Christian K. Quella

Christian K. Quella, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Embassy Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, in Painesville Township, Ohio. He was born April 13, 1948, in Painesville, Ohio, to Alvin R. and Elizabeth Quella. Chris graduated from Riverside High School in 1966 and earned the title of class Salutatorian. He acquired many honors that year and accepted a full scholarship to Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio. He excelled in math and made a perfect score on the math section of the SAT. After a short stint at OU, Chris decided to return home to northeast Ohio and enrolled at Lake Erie College in Painesville and was able to accept a generous scholarship from the school. He majored in Philosophy and graduated with honors in 1970. Chris was an avid reader and read many books. One of his favorite topics was religion. Upon graduation from Lake Erie, he took a job at the Lake County Courthouse, as a maintenance worker on the afternoon shift. He worked for the county government for many years and took retirement in the late 80’s. Chris enjoyed walking, exercising with weights, and reading. He also looked forward to discussions on current events and was knowledgeable about world events. He was a dedicated door to door worker for the local Democratic party. Chris spent many hours out with friends at the Painesville YMCA. He loved family company at many holiday celebrations and dedicated events. He will truly be missed, and his death has left a big void in the family. Chris is survived by his sisters, Louise A. Kimmich (Ronald) of Unionville, Ohio and Susan C. Quella of Painesville, Ohio; niece, Allison B. Kimmich (Nik), of Montclair, New Jersey, (Maya and Sameer), niece, Karen L. Hummel (Mark) of Chardon, Ohio (Alex, Connor, and Jenna); nephew, Kevin D. Kimmich (Chelsea), of Chardon, Ohio, and nephew, Patrick Brainard. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth, and Alvin R. Quella; Aunts, Mary Myers, Ann Magyar, and Uncle, Frank Horvath.
