Eleanor A. Bloomstine

Eleanor A. Bloomstine, age 87, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Tripoint Medical Center, Concord Twp. She was born January 1, 1929 in New Britain, Connecticut. After relocating from Connecticut to Hubbard, Ohio, Eleanor met Charles Robert, aka “Bob”, the love of her life. The couple married on September 14th, 1950 at Westminster Church in Youngstown, Ohio. They shared 47 beautiful years together in the Youngstown area where they raised their son, Gary. Eleanor loved to travel, read, and host card games with Bob for their many friends. After beating cancer, losing her husband, surviving a run-in with a train (she didn’t win, and she got a moving violation which was recently found in a folder labeled “keepsakes”), and overcoming a devastating fire (that ironically flooded her apartment), it was evident that Eleanor was a strong woman and a fighter. Throughout her life, Eleanor faithfully cared for family and friends through her passion for work, cooking, and her extreme overuse of paper towels to help her keep her home spotless. With her son and her granddaughter, Eleanor loved to assemble jigsaw puzzles and break even playing slot machines at the Rocksino. Eleanor maintained a sweet and nurturing demeanor that was complimented by her contagious smile. With a passion for keeping herself primped and polished, Eleanor loved all things gold and sparkly, and she never met a lipstick she didn’t love. The only thing more radiant than her jewelry was her sparkling personality and her ability to bring joy to everyone she met. She is survived by her son Gary R. Bloomstine; granddaughter Kira Ali and granddog: Andre. Preceding her in death was her husband Charles R. Bloomstine; parents: Nicholas and Eleanora Filanowicz; brothers: Frank and George Filanowicz and sister Jean Kelly. A private family inurnment will be held.
