Gene “Geno” Masi, age 70, of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Reserve Care Hospice in Cleveland, OH. Born on October 21, 1955, in Cleveland, OH, Gene lived a vibrant and wholehearted life filled with curiosity, adventure, and a deep devotion to his family and those he loved. He was the beloved son of Dorothy Argentieri Masi and the late Eugene Masi. Gene is survived by his loving sisters, Debbie Gifford (Rick, fiancée) and Laura Cline, who treasured his humor, his warmth, and his steady presence. He also leaves behind his loving significant other, Merry Ann Dietrich, who brought joy, companionship, and comfort to his life. Gene was a proud uncle to Mark Gifford (Alisha), Jesse Gifford (Beth), and Michael Cline, and a cherished great uncle to Warren, Elizabeth, Caroline, James, William, and Ethan Gifford. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in watching the younger generations grow. Gene spent the majority of his career as an Industrial Engineer with TRW in Euclid, Ohio, where he was known for his sharp mind, problem-solving skills, and dedication to his work. Coming from an artistic family, Gene had a natural love for music. He enjoyed singing with the East Side & West Side Barbershop Chorus’s, where his voice and camaraderie added richness to every performance. His passions were as wide ranging as they were spirited: slalom ski racing with the Euclid Hi Rise Ski Club, drag racing at Thompson Drag Raceway and other Ohio tracks, water skiing, boating, film acting and family camping trips that created lifelong memories. And no gathering was complete without Gene stepping up to the microphone to sing his favorite karaoke tune, “Mack the Knife,” a moment that never failed to bring smiles to those around him. Gene will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his quick wit, and the way he made people feel welcomed and treasured. His family and friends will forever carry with them the laughter he sparked, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday May 28, 2026 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday May 28, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield Village, OH.
