Janice L. (Eckerman) Huston Cicchella

Janice L. (nee: Eckerman) Huston Cicchella, 81, of Chesterland, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Hillcrest Hospital. She was born December 25, 1938 in Cleveland to the late Russell and Edythe Eckerman Clarke Janice had been a Supervisor in the Radiology Department at Huron Road Hospital and she held an associate’s degree from Kent State University. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Daniel L. Cicchella; children, Daniel W. (Angelique) Cicchella, Paula (Tim) Holt, Richard L. (Catherine) Huston Jr., Cynthia Cicchella, Debra (Wm. David) Larrick, Robin Huston and Jeffrey (Jacque) Cicchella; Grandchildren, Michael (Brianne) Huston, Matt Huston, Timothy (Jennifer) Holt, Joseph (Alison) Holt, Julie (Daniel) Wallenhorst, Chad Murawski, Sarah (Robert) Doll, William Larrick, Justin Cicchella, Allison Larrick, Jordan Cicchella, Jaden Cicchella, Julian Cicchella, Jaxon Cicchella, Jonah Cicchella; great grandchildren; Aubrey, Johnny, Zachery, Wesley, Elizabeth, sister; Dorothy (John) Huston, sisters-in-laws; Bert Eckerman, Alice Willett Strong, Gail Huston, and Joanne (Michael) DeDominicis, brothers- in- law; Larry (Phyllis) Huston, John (Dorothy) Huston, Robert McSween. Janice was preceded in death by her 1st husband: Richard L. Huston Sr., brother Russell Eckerman, brothers-in-law; George Huston, Gerald (Betty) Huston, Dr. Harry Huston, Bruce (Betty Jean) Huston, Rev. Dewey (Constance) Huston, and sisters-in- law Juanita (Fred) Clapp, Nancy (James) Bryson, Marilyn McSween, grandson Jansen Cicchella. Janice loved her family unconditionally and the Lord with all her heart. She was an avid sports fan, loved to golf, fish, bowl, and swim. She was an outstanding athlete ask any of her male cousins or uncles. Some of her other hobbies included knitting, reading, ceramics, which she taught after acquiring her own kiln. Janice was one of four ladies to start the girls’ softball program in the WG area. The team names were Linus, Charlie Brown, Red Barron, and her team Snoopy. She led the Snoopys to many championships, but most importantly taught young girls the love of athletics, team work, and playing hard! Janice loved to travel with her husband’s Dick and Dan. She made it to 49 states, some of them while working with Dan building churches for Laborers for Christ. Having experience as WG’s PTO president, in 1979 she was the lead negotiator between the WG school teachers and the school board, leading them to a resolution avoiding a strike. Janice was very involved at St. Mark; sang in the choir for 30 years, Bible study, book club, Sunday school teacher, as well as Sunday School Superintendent. Janice was very involved in organizations and activities her whole life. She loved being a wife and mother, but the role that was the most special to her was grandmother of 15 wonderful grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. If you had ever talked to her about them she would beam with pride, saying they were the best kids, all 15 of them and how blessed she was. The family will receive friends 4-7 pm Friday January 10, 2020 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026. A memorial service will be 11 am Saturday January 11, 2020 at the church.
