Joanne M. Wonson

Joanne M. Wonson, 67, of Mentor, died July 14, 2026, at Enclave of Newell Creek. She was born September 22, 1958, in Cleveland. Joanne worked as a radiology technologist for over 40 years. She was loved by patients and co-workers alike for her professionalism and gentle care. She put others at ease with her easy smile and sense of humor. Joanne loved to travel! She enjoyed short weekend excursions to long cross-country road trips and relaxing at the beach. She particularly enjoyed trips to Frankenmuth MI, and Florida! Joanne took pride in her park-like yard, enjoying the results of her gardening skills both indoors and outdoors. Joanne loved her puppies Patches and Charley, taking them with her in her travels. Over the years, she raised canaries, finches and Shelties. She found peace watching the birds in her garden and the fish in her pond and aquarium. When she wasn’t traveling or gardening, Joanne enjoyed cooking, collecting figurines and playing Bingo with her friends at The Enclave. Many family and friends also enjoyed her love of baking in the form of special birthday cakes and annual Christmas cookie baking! Survivors include her husband, Craig Wonson; daughter, Elizabeth (James) Janosick; grandchildren, James and Elena (fiancé Michael Crebs) Janosick; and her sisters, Janice (Juliano) Ritosa and Kate (Jim) Schlotzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Genevieve Harting; and brother, James “Jody” Harting. Joanne will be forever remembered by her nieces/grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews: Marcus and Caryn Ritosa and their children Rosalie, Thomas, Dominic, Leo and James; Anthony Ritosa; Andrew and Meagan Ritosa; Emily (Schlotzer) and Mark Sanvido and their son Dominic; Dana (Schlotzer) and Nicholas Esprit and their daughter Sadie; Timothy Schlotzer; Brian and Jon Harting; Jeanne and her daughter Hope; Justin and Kellie; Jason; Joshua; Joseph and Haley. Joanne had many good friends, some life-long and others just met. All will miss her ready smile and joyful laugh. The family will receive friends to celebrate Joanne’s life from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
