Margaret "Marg" DiSilvestro

Margaret “Marg” DiSilvestro, 84, of Painesville, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Tripoint Medical Center, Concord. She was born September 16, 1936 in Cleveland. Marg was a people person that started back when she graduated from Willoughby Union in 1955 and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. She rejoined her high-school friends 10 years ago and met monthly for lunch reunions. She worked in the office at Fluid Controls in Mentor, but found her true calling working with clients at the Lake County Mental Health Center and Neighboring. She supervised adult training, and planned hundreds of outings for the clients to enjoy. After Marg retired at the age of 75 she volunteered at Hope Chest and continued helping people in need. One of Marg’s favorite pastimes was shopping. She took great pride in her appearance always having that “put together” look. She and Paul had a second home and a souvenir shop on Put-In-Bay that brought Marg great happiness and life-long friends. Their business on the island gave Marg time to interact with the vacationers and never pass up a time to dance and have a good time. She was an avid Nascar, Indians and Browns fan and had season tickets in the Dawg Pound. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Paul and her daughter, Judy. Her many photo albums would give her many enjoyable hours reminiscing about favorite travel experiences and her fondest memories. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Paul DiSilvestro; children, Judith Szabo (Roger Frei) and Rich Szabo (Lisa DeRushia); 2 grandchildren and dear caregivers, Jean Koshiol, Joyce Finney and Laura Welch. Preceding Marg in death are her parents, Phillip and Margaret Steele. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial to take place in Mentor Cemetery, following the service. Masks are required and social distancing must be observed during all publicly attended events.
