Marie S. Recchia (nee: Picicci)

Marie S. Recchia (nee: Picicci), 90, of Chesterland, formerly of Mayfield, passed away May 4, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Murray Hill on August 16, 1934 to Frank and Sue Picicci. Ask her family about the running joke of her actual birthdate. Marie was a 1952 graduate of Shaw High School. She went on to beauty school where she met the love of her life, Raimondo “Ray” Eduardo Recchia. They married in 1956 and together raised 4 children. They ran several businesses including beauty schools, hair salons and Hibner Products Hair Supply Chemical Company, until the love of her life of 23 years suddenly passed away on May 14, 1979. Marie's love of her children and family was unconditional, she did everything she could to keep them safe, loved and happy. She was an amazing baker, cook and seamstress. Marie always had a kind, loving and caring personality, with a love for laughter. Her smile was the brightest when her family gathered at home around the kitchen table, feasting on her delicious meals and desserts. Survivors include her children, Anita (Jeff) Eskew, René (Sean Chmura) Recchia, Joe (Jennie) Recchia, and Ray (Ashli) Recchia; grandchildren, Nick (Kris) Eskew, Brittany (Pat Collister) Eskew, Cody (James Sorrels) Eskew, Jasmynn (Julian Bates) Recchia, Aurie Recchia, Ray (Keith Eichelberger) Recchia, and Carmen Recchia; great grandchildren, Jaiden and Juliana Bates, Leo Eskew Collister and Wyatt Recchia and sisters-in-law, Maria Lamparelli, Lina Calabrese and Anna De Benedictis; She was also loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and survived by many other family members and friends. Preceding Marie in death are her father, Frank Picicci; mother and step-father, Assunta “Susan” and Edward Nashel; husband, Raimondo Eduardo Recchia; granddaughter, Kameryn Recchia; brother, Jack (Nancy) Picicci; brothers-in-law, Vincenzo Lamparelli and Guerino “Gary” De Benedictis; niece, Tina Sapanaro (nee: De Benedictis) and in-laws: Amico and Nicolina (nee: Iacovetta) Recchia. The family will receive guests 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd, Gates Mills, OH 44040. Please meet at the church.
