Mary "Jean" Robinson (nee: Muenker)

Mary “Jean” Robinson (nee: Muenker), 96, of Mentor, passed away January 6, 2024 at Governor’s Pointe, Mentor. She was born February 8, 1927 to Jacob P. and Marie M. (nee: Reith) Muenker in Cleveland, Ohio. Jean married high school sweetheart and love of her life, Thomas A. Robinson on June 9, 1951. They shared 52-1/2 years of marriage before his passing in 2004. Jean graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in 1944 and went on to earn her degree in Physical Education from Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio in 1948. She was instrumental in developing physical education programs for girls at Memorial Junior High in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools in 1950 and Lake Catholic High School in 1970. She also taught in many Catholic high schools in the Cleveland area during her joy-filled teaching career. Jean was a dedicated cheerleader, gym leader and ski club advisor at the high school level. Jean loved spending time with and enjoying her family. She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Gramsie”. Many happy hours were filled playing tennis, quilting, sewing, and boating. She was full of life, in constant motion, and rarely sat still! Jean was an angel of mercy to many of her friends in need and a faithful member of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church. Left to cherish Jean’s memory are daughters, Kathy (Bob) Cochey, and Patty (Curt) Paine; grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Steuer and Matthew (Loretta) Cochey; great grandchildren, Edison and Sophie Cochey; nieces, Diana and Mary Ann and nephew, Bob. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Marie; husband, Thomas; brothers, Cletus (Frances) Muenker, Robert, and nephew John. Jean’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Governor’s Pointe Assisted Living, Hospice of the Western Reserve, and the many dedicated and faithful friends who cared for and shared life with her. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2024 at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m., January 15, 2024 at the church. Burial at Mentor Cemetery to follow.
