Ralph Lette Sr

Ralph Lette Sr., age 86 of Perry and Painesville Twp., died Wednesday October 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 25, 1932 in Mentor, OH. Ralph was from a family of 10 children. He had worked many years as a heavy machine operator for Melbrook Construction Co. in Mentor. His beautiful wife Vivienne was with him for 59 years before her passing in 2009. If you asked Ralph or Vivienne what was most important in life, they would tell you spending time with family. They didn’t have much but their most prized possessions were their 9 children and they were sure to let people know that! They doted over their grandchildren! In Ralphs earlier years he was well known at Painesville Speedway as a stock car driver. As time passed he became part of a pit-crew, rebuilding engines and stock cars, in support of his children and grandchildren who took on racing. However, his greatest passion was being in the great outdoors as a fisherman and a hunter! He was a member of the Madison Small Game Association. Ralph loved taking his small boat out on Lake Erie and fishing for hours. He would freeze his catch until he had enough fish to have a fish fry at his house for family and friends. Up until his death, he would still scale trees and build tree stands 22 feet in the air and sit in them for hours upon hours in the dead of winter waiting for that perfect buck to come along! He really loved it when his sons and grandsons would go out there with him! Ralph was a good man and was loved by all and will be missed by so many!!! Survivors include his children: Donna (George Kato) Murphy, Ralph Lette Jr., Trudy (Ralph Reed) Hagen, Doreen Stewart, Becky (Ken) Bender, Karon Lette, Randy (Brenda) Lette, Michelle Miller and Chris (Sherri) Lette, 14 grandchildren: Theresa Chapman, Lori (Bill) Wiley, Suzanne Murphy, Carl Kuntz, Brianna Stewart, Kenny & Samantha Bender, Derrick Gardner, Michael Gray, Kayla (Dave) Willert, Kenny, Kurtis, Paige & Hannah Lette, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Louise (Jack) Yeager, Dave Lette, Carolanne Reynolds and numerous nieces & nephews. Preceding Ralph in death is his wife: Vivienne Lette, parents: Ralph and Margaret Lette, siblings: Jean Reed, June Rife, Donald, Kenneth “Did” Harold and John Lette. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Family requests to please wear your Camo or casual attire. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Perry Twp.
