Robert A. Hemly

Robert A. Hemly, age 70, of Mentor, OH, passed away at his residence on January 5, 2026. He was born on February 5, 1955, in Cleveland, OH. Bob was the owner of CR Supply, LLC in Mentor, OH. He sold industrial cutting tools to machine shops for more than 50 years and conducted his business with absolute honesty and integrity. He considered his customers and acquaintances to be extended family members and always went out of his way to make them feel appreciated and valued. He spent time learning to prepare coveted family recipes and was especially known for his chocolate butter brickle, which he generously shared with customers, family, and friends. Bob enjoyed traveling to multiple destinations with his wife, Christine. He loved swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Together they enjoyed whale watching, hiking, and parasailing. Their favorite place was the deck of their home, where they found contentment in each other’s company. He was proud of his many lifetime friendships and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1973, in Cleveland, OH. Bob donated regularly to several organizations, including Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, the Pacific Whale Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Bob is survived by his wife of 19 years, Christine (née Yochum); his sister, Marilyn Angel; daughters, Sara E. Hemly of Columbus, OH, and Kate M. Neyman (James); stepchildren, Kimberly E. Frydrych (Steven), Michael G. Smola, and James D. Smola; grandchildren, Frank W. Frydrych and Parker Smola; and special family friends Jon and Shannon Oostdyk and Robin Hyett, who assisted Bob and his family during this most difficult time. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Hemly; mother, Marie C. Hemly; sister, Mary Ann Hemly; and brothers, John and Joseph P. Hemly. A private family service will be held at a later date.
