William E. Cmarik

William E. Cmarik, 70, of Mentor, died June 1, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, OH. He was born May 2, 1956, in Euclid. Bill developed a strong work ethic from a young age, with his first job peeling potatoes at a restaurant. While some may find the job boring or tedious, he would make a game out of it and time himself to see how many potatoes he could peel at a given time. He worked hard, working his way up through a manufacturing company to become Vice President of Sales. He held various positions in manufacturing over the years with his last as a plant manager, making positive changes and gaining respect from the employees. Bill's hobbies were golf and fishing on the pond in his backyard on the paddle boat. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish and taking leisurely boat rides with Lori. Golf wasn't just a hobby, but a true passion of his. Bill enjoyed playing with friends and family and teaching his girls how to hit a ball at the driving range. Bill enjoyed attending various sports and other events to see his grandchildren. He did the same thing with his own daughters when they were younger as he would cheer them on at basketball, softball and cheerleading competitions. Family was always at the top of his priority list, and he cherished memories and time spent on vacations with his family. Another thing Bill enjoyed was spoiling his children and grandchildren on Christmas Eve. Watching everyone's faces light up brought him true joy. "This is what it's all about," is what he would say. As the grandchildren grew, a tradition began with the game of Left, Right, Center commencing each Christmas Eve. Laughter, having fun and cheering each other on is one of those life lessons and memories that will not be forgotten. One of Bill's favorite things was to sit on the deck with Lori, enjoying their beautiful yard, talking with family and friends and watching the kids play. It was their very own sanctuary that brought them so much pride and joy. Bill truly embraced life, finding joy in time spent with family, friends, and neighbors. As we gather to celebrate him, may we hold onto the stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to keep his spirit alive in all of us. Survivors include his wife, Lori Grantham; daughters, Christina (Tim) Spisak, Stefanie (Brad) Lendzian, and Jamie (AJ) Smola; grandchildren, Capri, Owen, Sydney, William, Taylor, Robert, and Mckenzie; and his brothers, Daniel Cmarik and Raymond (Patricia) Cmarik. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Suzann Cmarik; and his brother, John Cmarik. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass to honor William’s life will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, OH 44060 (please meet at the church). Family eulogies will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday at the church and will lead into the start of the funeral mass. Inurnment will take place in Mentor Cemetery.
