William E. "Willy" Myers

William E. “Willy” Myers, 66, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, OH, died November 10, 2023 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby from a heart condition. He was born January 23, 1957 in Willoughby, OH to William A. Myers and Dolores H. (Kochanski-Creadon) Myers. Willy worked in warehousing, shipping / receiving and in a few printing companies, the last one being Modern Impressions/Logistics in Wickliffe, OH. His hobbies included watching sports of all kinds along with horse and drag racing. He enjoyed and played many sports throughout his life including little league baseball in Mentor-on-the-Lake in the mid 1960’s where they became league champs in 1966. Willy also played football in middle school, men’s basketball, and soccer for the Mentor-on-the-Lake Enforcers with the nickname “Baby Jet” in the ‘70’s to early ‘80’s. Willy went on to become an assistant coach of the youth soccer team Mentor Kick that he helped to create with Scott Nightengale as head coach in the ‘80’s. Willy was an avid bowler at the old Regal Lanes in Mentor, OH for many years and was on the Men’s Wednesday Nite summer league. Golf was another favorite past time he shared with his Dad. Willy belonged to a Men’s league on Monday afternoons in Chardon, OH. Some of his favorite sports teams were the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Cavaliers. More than anything Willy loved his family. Survivors include his, sisters, Dorinda Myers (61) of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Michelle Myers (57) of Oakland, CA; nephews, Brandon Myers (40) and Benjamin Myers (21); Uncle Doug White and Aunts, Patricia (Doug) White and Rita Krupa–Creadon; and many loving cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Dolores H. Myers. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, OH 44060 (please meet at the church.) Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery, Mentor. Reception for family and friends will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 8751 Kirtland Rd, Kirtland, OH immediately following burial. The family would also like to thank Willy’s excellent home care team from UH Home Care Services – Roberta, Laurie, Bill and Christine. With their help Willy was able to live and enjoy another 9 months after his diagnosis of heart failure this past year. In lieu of flowers, the contributions may be made in care of the family.
